A Busy Week Full of Fun!

December14

This week was so busy, I couldn’t choose what to write about. So I’m just going to tell you everything!!

Monday: On Monday we had basketball in Under 14′s. Our team is really bad (no offence guys!),  we’ve got two grade 3′s ( supposed to be in under 12′s) our 2 tallest players aren’t that tall, and Olivia, a friend, Lucy, another friend, and me. We are each 11. We lost (again) but got our highest score and if the team weren’t that tall, we would’ve won. It was 10-28.

Tuesday: Tuesday was a VERY big day for me. I’m going for school captain, and I did my speech in front of the 2-6′s who vote after the speeches are finished. My speech went pretty well, I think, I didn’t get much stage fright, but I was tapping my foot the entire time! Besides from that I think I did pretty well, I hope. Fingers crossed!

Wednesday: On Wednesday I did the school captain interview. The principle (Mrs A), Mrs Hill, Harriet and Geordie ( current school captains, we don’t have a vice, our school has only around 180 students) and Michelle ( School council president) were there. I think I did okay in the interview, you could tell I was nervous, but I answered the questions well, I hope.

Friday (nothing happened on Thursday): Friday was when Sabrina, my sister, and I did our music concert. I played Fix You-Coldplay on the piano, Sabrina sang Castle on the Clouds, from Les Miserable, and then we did a duet together. She sang Who Knew-Pink and played the piano to it. Luckily, we didn’t stuff up, so we played pretty well.

Saturday: Saturday was probably the most tiring day of all. We first woke up and went into Geelong to see a Mini Groodle, a cross between a Golden Retriever and a poodle (called a Goldendoodle in USA).  These were the mum and dad that were going to have puppies in April/ May, 2015. They are both 3/4  mini poodle, a 1/4 Golden Retiever. They are only about 10cm ( max) bigger than a miniature poodle. Both fluffy (a quality in a dog I love!), have great friendly natures, gorgeous ears and love a swim. These dogs are perfect for our family.

After that we went to Adventure Park ( which is in Wallington, not Geelong). My favourite ride was the Gold Rush Rapids, the blue water slide next to the yellow one, or the adult go karts. I got two shots of it since I wanted to go with dad. On the second turn I wouldn’t let dad overtake me until the last moment when another car ganged up with dad and over took me on the last lap!

So that was my busy week full of fun!

Snorkeling!

November16

Every two years, the 5/6′s are lucky enough to  do a snorkeling program! Well, on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday,  it was our turn. Here’s what we did…

On Monday Mrs Hill’s class ( my class) went a  special pool to practise snorkeling before going to the beach, on Wednesday,  and actually go snorkeling. The two instructors, Alex and Peri, taught us how to use flippers ( many of us new how to do this, we’re not that bad!) to duckdive, equalize while duckdiving and what to do in an emergency.  We got to keep the snorkel, which was extremly nice considering that the program was free!

On Tuesday the other grade went, so there isn’t much to write about because I didn’t go!

Finally, Wednesday. Our grade was first. We got into our wetsuits, and went down to the beach. It was very calm water, with no waves at all. Everone ran into the water straight away.  We went snorkeling at Harry’s Reef, near Harry’s Café. My partner, Jess, and I had a great time. We saw sea urchins, squid eggs, a catshark, lots of fish, heaps of sea stars ( they’re not called starfish, as they are not fish) and about a million types of seaweed and plants.

I had a great time snorkeling and  a big Thank You Alex and Peri, who gave up their time to teach us for free, the Borough of Queenscliff for founding the program, and of course, Thank You to Mrs Hill and Mrs Barry for letting us go!!

Tassie!!

November2

I know I’ve been on WAY to many holidays this year, but I could fit in just one more. This time we went to Tassie!!

Last weekend mum and I went to Hobart for a weekend! It was really fun! On Friday I had the day off school and went shopping in Geelong. We then went from Geelong to the airport for our flight to Hobart. An hour later we got at the Hobart Airport and went to our apartment. Later that day we went to the Hobart Book Shop, my favourite, and then went to Fish Frenzy for dinner. It was an awesome day.

On Saturday we got up early and had breaky downstairs, at the apartment. We then went to MONA ( Mueseum of Old and New Art). Mum and I arrived at the ferry and were surprised to find little sheep, to sit on, and a cow, on the outside viewing area. We arrived at MONA to find 99 steps waiting for us. I finally got up them and went into the museum. It is underground, sMONA post blog pico the walls are rock. Since none of the paintings have a little bio beside them, you get an I Phone that tells you about all the paintings around you. My favourite artwork was called Kryptic ( I think). You go through a grey tunnel with the numbers 0 and 1 on the walls, but you may spot the occasional word. When you finish the tunnel you go into a very small room. I dare you to look up, you’ll get a fright!! After MONA we went to see The Maze Runner at the movies. It was fantastic!! Later that day we went to Cargo for dinner. It was delicious! I had a great day!!

Sunday was the travel day. We managed to fit in a delicious breaky at the Retro Cafè. Mum and I then went to explore Salamanca Place. We went and got lots of stuff. It was awesome!! We then went to the airport, flew back to Melbourne and drove down home. It was an awesome trip and Thanks mum for being nice and Thanks dad for letting us go and looking after the girls. I had a great time!!

Holidays!!!!

October13

If you’ve been wondering why I haven’t done a post in ages, well it was because I was on holidays!! Here’s what I did…

Finally we got there. Ella’s house!! It took 5 boring hours in the car. Ella lives on a farm. She  has a BIG tree with a flying fox! It was awesome. My favourite moment would have to be swimming in the dam. Ella’s dad eel farmer and he puts the sick eels in the dam we were swimming in!! Egh!!! We only found out after we got out!!!! It was so fun!!  And thank you  Ella so much for having us!!!

Grand Final day. The whole of Australia is on the edge of their seats. We went out and had our annual Grand Final breakfast, inspired by the North Melbourne Grand Final Breakfast. Finally, it arrived. We switched on our TV and watched the whole game. Normally we would’ve been on the edge of our seats. We weren’t. I must admit it was a terrible game. The score: 11.8.74 – 21.11.137. To Hawks. The underdogs thrashed.

Monday morning= early morning. Dad and I woke up early and drove to Melbourne Airport. We meet up with my cousin, Archie, who I was going to go to Gold Coast with. Archie and I got onto the plane, said goodbye to our parents, and off we went. We finally reached the Gold Coast!! Nanna was waiting at the airport and drove us to the hotel. My favourite moment was when we went to Movie World! My favourite ride would’ve been the Wild West Falls, even though I got drenched!!!! It was a great holiday and Thank You Nanna for taking us, I had a great time!!

Go Kangas!!!!

September14

In Australia we have our own special sport. It’s called AFL, Australian Football League. I don’t know one single Australian who doesn’t follow it.

This year the team I follow, the North Melbourne Kangaroos, or Kangas for short, made the top 8 and got into the finals. They playedkangas Essendon. I was at the stadium watching. Dad took Sabrina and I to watch. It was a great match. The first quater we were neck and neck. The Bombers were ahead by one point. It was 2.3, 15 to 2.4, 16. Then at half time, the Bomber rode ahead and kicked 4.3 to our one lonely behind. The scores read 2.4, 16 to 6.7, 43. Then in the thrid quarter, we fought back. Ben Brown, who had only played 8 games,in the dieing stages of the stages of the game, kicked 3 goals in 11 minutes. By three-quarter-time, the scores were 9.5, 59, to 10.8, 68. Then in the final quarter, the fight was on. Brown kicked another goal and Petrie kicked two life-saving goals in 5 minutes. The siren rings. The roos have won.

The next week the Kangas played the Geelong Cats on a Friday night. It was a exciting game and their was big rivalry as the couches are twin brothers! Anyway, we watched it on the TV. The first quarter we were ahead by 2 goals, it was 5.1, 31 to 7.1, 43. Then we stormed ahead in the second quarter and kicked 2.5 to their 5 behinds. The scores now said 5.6, 36 to 9.6,60. Then in the thrid quarter, the cats started scoring. They scored 8.9, 59, to our 12.9, 81. The last quarter was were the action started happening. Hawkins kicked goal after goal and by the last 10 mins the cats were only one goal behind us. Everyone was on the edge of there sets. Finally, the siren rang. Kangas won!! They are going to the preliminary final!!

Falls Creek

September7

I know I’ve just done a post on Mt Buller, but we get to go to Falls Creek, as a family!

Falls Creek is another ski resort in Victoria. It’s a bit further from Melbourne, about 4\5 hours. It gets more snow than Mt Buller though.

Anyway, this year our family went to Falls Creek for a whole week!! Here’s a list of everything we did each day:

Friday: The travel day. We got into the car at about 8:30am. Since we don’t live in Melbourne it took us 6 hours to get there. We arrived at about 3:00pm. We walked to our apartment. It was near the Falls Express ( the main chairlift), so it only took us about 30 seconds to get into our apartment. We hired our ski gear and carried them up to the apartment. Pretty boring day.

Saturday: Saturday was probably my favourite day. It was sunny all day. We started ski school on Saturday. Sabrina ( my sister) and I were in level 5. We got a teacher called Millie. She was really nice. We had quite a big group, there was about 10 of us, but I still had heaps of fun and made alot of friends. We had lunch at the Last Hoot, which was delicious. After that the group got a bit smaller, it was now half day. We went down Lakeside, International and Short and Curly, Towers and the Drovers Terrain park and heaps of other runs that I’ve forgot.

Sunday: Sunday was a good day, but not my favourite. It was terrible weather the whole day, especially the afternoon. There was a nice little group in the morning, but in the afternoon, it was just Sabrina and I. Since we were the only ones in the group, Millie met up with her friend, that was a snowboarding instructor, and we got to have a hot cinnamon donut!! It was so yum!! The  rest of the day we went around Towers, it was to cold to go anywhere else!!

Monday: Monday was quite a good day. It was sunny again. Millie wasn’t there that day, so we had a new teacher, Petr. The group was different today. We went around Ruined Castle, Scotts, Towers and Lakeside. I still made heaps of friends though. We had lunch at Dicky Knees, which was nice. After ski school, my friend Lucy came over to our apartment for dinner. It was alot of fun.

Tuesday: Tuesday was sunny again. We had Petr again.  We went to the Eagle Chair, Lakeside, Ruined Castle and some other runs I’ve forgot. We had lunch at Dicky Knees again. After ski school we went to Milch for an early dinner. It was very nice. Since we didn’t stay infalls creek map the village, we had to ski back down in the dark!

Wednesday: On Wednesday it was as sunny as ever. We did ski school again and had Petr. We went down International and Skyline, Lakeside, Runied Castle, and Towers. We had lunch at the Frying Pan, which was nice. After ski school I went over to my Lucy’s apartment and had dinner. It was a bit annoying because she was going night skiing. But I still had fun. I watched a bit of Mrs Doubtfire with Lucy, Abby and Elsie.

Thursday: Thursday was our last day of skiing. It was race day. The nastar race course opens every Thrusday for ski school to race their classmates. We had a small group, only 5 people were racing. I came second. The rest of the day we went around Towers and Lakeside. We had lunch at the Frying Pan again. It was yum!

Friday: On Friday we didn’t ski. We packed our bags, retured our gear. We decided to walk up to the village and do Snow Tubing. We arrived at the park but were told that they started an hour late. So we walked back to the car and drove home.

Mt Buller

August17

Every year we go up to the snow once or twice. Dad picks someone to go with him to Mt Buller, and then we go up as a family to Falls Creek.  We this time Dad didn’t take just one of use, or two, he took us all!! Plus our Nanna too!!!

Friday: This year ( as I said) Sabrina, Tessa (my sisters) and I went up to Mt Buller with our Nanna. We drove up and arrived at about 10.30am. We signed into our lodge, hired our skiies and were skiing by 12.00pm.  We had lunch at Koflers, which is very delicious and

busy, but I noticed it was quite small. We skied the for the rest of the day and then went out for dinner at Dad’s favourite, Pension Grimmus. When I was little I went out to Pension Grimmus and had a delicious Apple Crumble. When I looked at the dessert menu I saw a Rhubarb Crumble, so I ordered it straight away. It wasn’t quite to my expertations, but I am quite a fussy eater.Saturday: On Saturday I had ski school for the first day. We went on Family Run and the Skyline T-bar, on Shakey Knees and Tirol. We went to Spurs for lunch. We had Chicken Nuggets and chips for lunch and a bit of jelly. We went on Burnt Hut and Burke Street too. We went on HEAPS of runs. At the end of the day I went for a little ski with dad on Little Buller Spur and Wombat before it was time to go back to our lodge and have a Saturday night communal dinner. We had soup for an entrée, pasta for the main, and gelato for dessert. The dinner was Italian themed. At the end every table had to come up and say an Italian joke in front of everyone. Our table said: “What do you call an Italian with a cold? Julius Sneezer!!!” We all got a packet of Tim Tams as reward.

Sunday: On Sunday we went to ski-school for half the day. We skied down HEAPS of runs. My favourite run we skied would have been Tirol. We had lunch at Spurs again. For lunch we had pizza and chips with jelly. Then Dad came and picked us up and we packed up and went on the shuttle to get to our car. We dropped Nanna off hours later and went home, all of us feeling quite sick.

Well, although we were feeling sick at the end, going to Mt Buller was really fun, thanks for taking Dad and Nono!!

7 Days of my Life.

July28

I know I’ve done few posts on this, but my week keeps changing, over and over, and I can hardly keep up!!

Monday: On Monday I’ve got basketball. Our team’s going quite well this season, we’ve only lost one game. The game we lost was 13-23, which was this week!!  Our best player was away, but I still got two goals, so I’m happy.

Tuesday: On Tuesday I’ve got music lessons with my sister. She sings and I play the piano. Sometimes we do a duet together. I’m working on doing the piano to the song Crazy, by Gnarls Bakely.

Wednesday: On Wednesday I either go to my sisters  swimming lesson or chill out at home watching T.V. Pretty relaxing day.

Thursday: Thursday’s the early morning day. On Thursday I’ll start doing early morning swimming lessons with my friend Lucy. It goes from six ’til seven in the morning!! In the afternoon I have nothing at all, maybe a play or two.

Friday: Nothing. I will NEVER, NEVER in a MILLION years have ANYTHING on a Friday. Fridays my day to just sit and relax in front of the T.V.

Saturday: Nothing at all. Maybe drive up to Melbourne for the weekend, or perhaps a family outing.

Sunday: Sunday I do this basketball drill session with Sabrina and some friends. The rest of the time I’m relaxing in front of the TV.

Port Douglas!!!!

July13

You may remember that I did my first post on Port Douglas 2 years ago, and another one last year. And it’s finally time again to have another AWESOME holiday at Port Douglas!!!

Port Douglas is ideal for a trip to the Great Barrier Reef or to the Daintree Rainforest, with Cape Tribulation a 90 minute drive on well maintained sealed roads.

Port Douglas maintains a village feel, as it is a town where the Palm Trees are taller than the buildings and you can meander through the town to do some shopping, or enjoy a wide variety of cafes, pubs, restaurants & bars, ranging from those offeringport douglas map blog pic excellent value to world class cuisine.

It is a very popular tourist, beach and reef destination, with the peak season being during the Australian winter.

Well to start of with,  Mum and Dad booked the family into Jungle Surfing through the Daintree Rainforest, around Cape Tribulation. It was really, really, REALLY fun!! You get harnessed in and go for a little walk, and then the excitement begins! when you reach the top you pair up. There’s a human-sized hamster wheel that you walk on the power the pair infront of you to get to the first platform. Now we’re up on the first platform, our harnesses hooked into the tree,  learning some info about the rainforest surrounding us. Finally, the first zip line!! I wait as dad ( my parter) gets clipped in. As I get the thumbs up to go, I jungle surfing port douglas blog picpush my feet of the platform and away we go!! You can see the beautiful green trees surrrounding us as we fly in the canopy. On the thrid line, one of the guide stopped us in the middle of the line. We were at the highest point, 22.5m of ground, and as a joke to scare us, he stopped us smack bang in that spot. Most people would have hated it, but dad and I loved it!! The next line was really fast, and the last one you have to go upside down!! Even my little sister ( Tessa, she’s only 5yrs) went upside down!! After that we went for a little walk and then went home!! It was a great experience and I loved every momment!!

The rest of the time we were either swimming in the pool, the beach, walking around, going out for dinner or reading.
It was a great holiday and I loved it!!

The Tuesday That Won Over Them All…

June8

Well, this week was quite an exciting week. But the best bit was DEFINETLY Tuesday, but why?

On Tuesday (my friend) Lucy, my teacher and I went to the a Deakin campus and saw Dr Jane Goodall! Dr Jane Goodall is a conservationist and a  primatologist, humanitarian and a UN Messenger of Peace. She is now circling the globe 300 days a year, never staying at one place any more than three weeks. She is doing lectures about conservation to young people around the world, and inspiring others to follow in her foot steps.

She talked about her story, and how she became in love with chimpanzees and conserving the Earth. One favourite stories would be when Jane was about six. She lived in London, so she had never seen a cow or sheep. Well, Jane’s family moved out onto a farm. Jne was very excited and intreged by chickens. She wondered were the eggs came from. Obviously, no-one would tell her, so Jane went out and followed a chicken into it’s pen. She waited for hours, until finally, she saw it. All this time her mother was desperatly looking for her. When she found Jane in the pen, instead of shouting at her, she let Jane tell her the incredible

adventure she just had. Jane started talking about the rest of her life until it meet with the present. She also talked about conservation and her ‘Roots and Shoots’ programme. Finally, after all that we brought out a birthday cake and started singing Happy Birthday, because it was her 80th birthday. For Jane’s full biography, press here: http://www.janegoodall.org.au/janes-biography/

Well, seeing Dr Jane Goodall was a great experience and I loved it!
